This is what redwoods, mushrooms and ladybugs look like

I counted 47 people at Redwood Regional Park yesterday with Outside Kids. We didn't move as a large group. Instead it was like a long slinky of kids and their grownups who came together at points and spread out at others. Some moved fast, some moved slowly. All saw thousands of ladybugs, multiple kinds of mushrooms, and a flowing creek. This is some of what it looked like:

If you want to go, first drive to the south entrance to Redwood Regional Park. It's the entrance on Redwood Road. Drive to the end of the driveway after going through the kiosk. Go all the way. Then walk up Stream Trail. Go past the playground. Go over the bridge. Enter the redwoods. When you get to Big Meadow, look over at the fence post on the far side of meadow. Go up and look closely.

You can also walk to the intersection of Prince and Stream trails. The ladybugs over winter there and don't ask me when they'll leave. February? March?

The next Outside Kids outing will be in January sometime. Stay tuned here and on Facebook to know when and where. In the meantime, go outside!
